Wharfedale T.T.T.
Results for the Wharfedale TTT weekend racing 'extravaganza' (4th 5th 6th July) with race comment by Justin Hill.
Edinburgh (May 2008)
Skipton AC headed north of the border to Edinburgh to show off their talents in this years Edinburgh marathon. Beautiful weather albeit a little windy in places, ensured a great day for most. Jane Butterworth clocked up a brilliant 3:38 with Paul Norman producing a 4:02 despite cramp for that last hour or so.
Check out the photos here.
Wray Fell Race
Well done to Jonathon Mitcham who was 10th overall and 1st MV50 at the Wray Fell Race.
London Marathon
Well done to all who ran the London marathon on Sunday 13th April enduring somewhat changeable weather! Congrats to debutante Jerry Lamb and for PBs achieved by Angela Barrett & Steve Hall (inc intravenous vodka). It sounds like all concerned had a cracking weekend away, including covering the 26-ish miles in the distance’s centenary year.
Baildon Boundary Way
Congrats to Phil Evans (1:41:15 & course PB) and 2nd F35-ish Karen Chown (1:42:18 first time BBW) in the multi terrain, half marathon Baildon Boundary Way, 6th April 2008. Good to see Justin Hill travelling west from Hull (way better than going east of Hull), also on his first BBW and cantering round in 1:48:40. Just a tad down on last year's time was Jayne Butterworth (1:58:40). There were clear blue skies when we started but a keen, cold wind. Chris Rose and Paul Norman took ample opportunity to gaze at the fine views whilst topping up their skiing suntans and cruised around in fine style but stuck in 2nd gear.
Dent 14
The Dent 14 on March 8th saw Steve Hall, Clare Pearson, Ann-Marie Bulcock, Paul Norman, Ruth Isabella Elkington, Chris Rose, Calvin Casper & Silvia Vida battle their way 'man'-fully through the puddles. The loop of the course towards Sedburgh was flooded, so the race was two laps of the upper, hillier part of the course (nicknamed the 'shallow end' that day). Ruth's other part, Steve also took part. A great result for the girls with Clare, Ann-Marie and Ruth winning the team prize!!
Trimpell 20 Road Race
Six Skipton runners (five in prep for the London Marathon and one just for fun?!) headed to Lancaster 02/03/08 for the Trimpell 20 road race. A bright and windy day proved to be perfect conditions for the race which ran along the Lune Valley Cycle trail. Four runners achieved PB’s and one a new title. Steve Hall had a fantastic run and breezed home first in 2.29 (PB) followed by Jerry (Junior) Lamb 2.42 (PB) who was determined to beat Dad, Mike who just went for the day out. Senior Lamb had by mile 3 collected a group of assorted runners who he paced round the course and who gave him the title ‘The Colonel’ – came home in 2.48 (it was chasing the woman in pink that kept him going) Cath Coates did as she was told in 2.53. Bill Smith had two PBs that day 2.59 for the run and 00.00.25 for the downing of the Mars bar at the finish. Tim Coates completed the course in 3.06 (PB) and won the prize for best blisters on both feet – is that why he was seen running barefoot up the park last week?
