Skipton AC is a small athletics club based in Skipton. The club caters for athletes of all abilities and disciplines (typically road running and fell running as well as track and field events). The club is warm and friendly and welcomes new members. Please contact us if you have any questions or simply come along to one of our training sessions.

For details of the Jog Skipton Sessions, check the JogSkipton section of the site by clicking here.

We hoped to interest a dozen indivduals, but to have almost fifty people of all ages and abilities registering their interest AND turning out to run with us (even in the rain on the first night) has turned Jog Skipton into a team building event, a challenge to which, as ever we have risen.

I would like to say a big thank you to each and every one of you for your continuing support, making this work, and work it has far beyond any of our expectations. It could never have been a success without you. I hope everyone who has given their time, organisational, leadership, coaching, encouraging, administration, advertising and advising skills, is gaining satisfaction from helping others to gain the personal achievement, friendships, fitness and confidence which running has allowed us to have (Something other than insanity must make each of us do what we do!).

It is fabulous to see the enthusiasm and watch as people improve even after such a short time. The feed back has been really positive. (Written by: Cath Coates)

Why not register you interest on-line

Please note that there is to be a 'last run meeting' on both Tuesday October 21st 18:00 and, for those that can't make this date, a second meeting is arranged for Thursday October 23rd 18:00.

Skipton Athletics Club (AC) welcomes anyone who wants to try running, no matter if you are a complete beginner and never run before, or a ‘comeback kid’ who has run a little before and wants to get back into it.

Skipton AC are a friendly group of people who meet regularly to enjoy not only running, but also socialising together. The aim of JogSkipton is to introduce people to running purely for the enjoyment and the good feeling of being active.

Members of Skipton AC say, “Anyone can come and run with us. We hope that people’s motivation will increase as they realize that they are getting more and more fit, confident and energised by running. There is always something exciting on the horizon – whether it is pure improvement, feeling better or the desire to run a race. JogSkipton is not about a group of elite runners coaching aspiring athletes. We are experienced, regular runners and simply wish to share our love for running and to give supportive encouragement in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.”

When and Where?

JogSkipton sessions are intended for adults aged 18 and over and will be from mid-September for six weeks with further sets of sessions in the New Year and from early April prior to Skipton’s Race for Life in May.

Sessions will be held at 6:30pm, meeting outside the Craven Swimming Pool foyer and will last for about 30 minutes. There is no cost to participants.

The series of six sessions are not a formal training course; people can join in with as many or as few sessions as they wish. The sessions will be semi-structured to aid improvement and development of each participant’s running. With this in mind, Skipton AC believe that people who attend all six sessions will improve their fitness, especially if combined with exercise on other days during each week.

Skipton AC will hold an open meeting so that people can express their interest and to meet club members. Based on this, the numbers of complete beginners and ‘comeback kids’ can be ascertained, as can whether Tuesdays and/or Thursdays are preferred. If you cannot attend this meeting why not register you interest on-line. Otherwise, just come along to the first session.

The first sessions were as follows, later dates will be published as soon as they are known.

Open meeting, Craven Swimming Pool  6:30 pm Tuesday September 9th  6:30 pm Thursday September 11th
Week 1 running  6:30 pm Tuesday September 16th  6:30 pm Thursday September 18th
